Teledyne RESON has over 40 years of proven reliability in underwater acoustics. Over the years we have worked with internationally recognized laboratories and industry to develop acoustic standard references and advanced sensor designs. The result of this work is an extensive and comprehensive line of precision reference hydrophones and projectors covering frequencies from 0.1Hz to the MHz band.
Each hydrophone leaving production is individually calibrated. Teledyne RESON provides calibrations to international standards set by the UK's National Physical Laboratory.
Teledyne RESON reference hydrophones are designed for precision hydroacoustic measurements, signal detection and/or calibration reference acoustic projections. Our hydrophones have an international reputation for high-quality acoustic measurements in scientific research, naval and environmental monitoring.
Teledyne RESON is also an OEM supplier of hydrophones for many industrial and commercial products.
Our sales, service and R&D departments are dedicated to providing solutions to customer needs. In addition to maintaining the standard hydrophone product line, our experienced team of engineers also designs and manufactures customer specific transducers.
We also have the flexibility to discuss modifications to our commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products to better meet specific system integration requirements. Teledyne RESON is committed to providing you with solutions.
Denmark headquarters Teledyne RESON is ISO 9001:2008 certified for quality, ensuring that all Teledyne RESON products are manufactured to the strictest quality requirements for reliable long-term continuous operation. The entire manufacturing process is monitored from development to production and shipping. Our production and calibration facilities include two large tanks where we can perform calibration measurements on our products, and a high pressure test tank with a pressure range up to 700 bar.

Calibration is done relative to a reference hydrophone. Reference hydrophones were calibrated by the reciprocity method, undertaken by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), UK. For more details on calibration and associated uncertainties, see www.teledyne-reson.com/calibration
Teledyne RESON calibration uses a pulse-gated measurement technique to avoid reflections in the tank. Voltage, current and impedance are all measured within the same gating pulse. Pulse width is limited by its wavelength and vessel size. We also perform pistonphone calibration tests at 250Hz. Every hydrophone and transducer that leaves our factory is quality checked and individually calibrated. Each unit has its own serial number and comes with its own calibration charts for reception, impedance and transmission (if applicable).
Teledyne RESON, together with Teledyne BlueView and Teledyne Odom Hydrographic, forms the Teledyne Marine Acoustic Imaging Group (TMAIG). TMAIG has developed some of the most advanced sonar technology in the world.
TMAIG has manufacturing, research and development, sales and after-sales service at its headquarters in Denmark as well as in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and the US. In addition, it maintains sales offices in the United States and Shanghai, and supports local sales through a network of distribution partners in more than 47 countries.
TMAIG is part of Teledyne Marine, a large group of companies providing products and services to the oceanographic community. Teledyne Marine is owned by Teledyne Technologies Inc., a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (TDY).
In keeping with Teledyne's ethos, the member companies of the Teledyne Marine Group remain committed to their technology heritage; however, our Teledyne Marine sales force is able to address not only brand-level solutions, but our full range of technology solutions Solve turnkey system and functionality issues. Our goal is to provide a one-stop shopping experience, including global 24/7 customer support.
